The Alliance Française de Pittsburgh, founded in 1903, is a non-profit organization, member of the Federation of Alliances Françaises in the United States. Its purpose

As our name implies, we strive to "ally" ourselves with people of all nationalities. With 1,100 Alliance Française chapters in 130 countries, the cultural presence of France reaches out every day, strengthening ties between countries andcreating better understanding between people everywhere.

The Alliance Française de Pittsburgh has some 200 members and offers classes and programs that are open to all without discrimination. We offer a variety of social and cultural events and programs in French and in English.

L’Alliance Française de Pittsburgh fondée en 1903, est une association sans but lucratif, membre de la Fédération des Alliances Françaises aux Etats-Unis.

Le but de l’Alliance Française vise à promouvoir la langue française, la littérature et les cultures francophones et dans ce cadre, d’encourager des activités dans les domaines de l’éducation, de l’art et des spectacles.


Comme son nom l’indique, l’Alliance Française tend à s’allier avec des groupes et des gens de toutes nationalités. Avec ses 1100 bureaux dans 130 pays, la présence culturelle de l’Alliance Française, à travers le point commun de l’intérêt pour la langue française, consolide journellement les liens entre les pays, travaillant de ce fait à une meilleure entente entre les gens de tout pays.


L’Alliance Française de Pittsburgh compte 200 membres et offre des cours et des activités qui sont ouverts à tous sans aucune discrimination.

Nous proposons une variétés d’évènements culturels ou divertissants tant en Français qu’en Anglais.

Pittsburgh Bicentennial

The Alliance Française de Pittsburgh is participating in the 

Pittsburgh Bicentennial. In 2016, Pittsburgh will celebrate the 200th anniversary of its incorporation as a City. Mayor Peduto is planning a parade and celebration to be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 in commemoration of July 9, 1816, the date that our first Mayor took office.
